Whirling Dervishes
After trying unsuccessfully our last time here, last night we finally saw Whirling Dervishes. It was in their nearby lodge, not the show they do nightly in the tourist zone. Quite remarkable, not only for the music and the dancing but also as a spiritual journey .. “of man's ascent through mind and love to the ‘Perfect’ .. where the follower grows through love, deserts his ego, finds the truth, and arrives at the ‘Perfect.’ He then returns from this spiritual journey as a man who has reached maturity and a greater perfection, able to love and to be of service to the whole of creation.” You can read more here and also here and see lots of online photos here.
