Sunny and warm. Gradually getting the lay of the land, figuring things out, finding coffee, ATM machines and the International Herald Tribune. Now have electronic transit tickets (they work just like New York), maps, a half-dozen iPhone apps. Bought a moody little lamp. We lack dishtowels, a cutting board, and a few pots and pans. But the management provided an afghan, sends clean towels every day and even someone to touch up peeling paint. Not too shabby. At the corner, if you turn away from the new town you go down a narrow street so steep that I almost slid down on a wet spot. Our management rents flats down there too. So glad we're up here where we can almost smell these fish cooking down at the shore of the Bosporus (Bosphorous).
